A dream is more than one symbol
The thirteen principles in Dream Origins place interpretation in a wider frame: who the dreamer is, what circumstances they are living through, how the dream changes, what details are remembered, and whether a reading should be attempted at all.
Dreamer context and lived circumstances
The source uses the social language of its own period when it says that status differs. This site does not carry that hierarchy forward as a modern value judgment. A careful contemporary reading is that the same image should be considered alongside the dreamer’s life circumstances, relationships, and concerns.
Direction of change and complete sequence
The section on dream transformation asks readers to remember a dream’s beginning, ending, and turns. It also notices shifts such as brightness becoming darkness, murk becoming clear, or withered things becoming renewed. Rather than isolate an object, first notice what changed around it.
Some dreams should not be forced into interpretation
The principles list scattered preoccupations, bodily discomfort, and missing recollection among situations where a definite reading should not be forced. This is a historical methodological caution, not a modern medical judgment.
Traditional material also contains uncertainty
The text discusses reversals, strange dreams, outcomes that may not correspond, and changes too numerous to exhaust. This site therefore presents the tradition as cultural material for reflection, not as a guarantee about the future, health, or relationships.
Cultural context note
Passages about spirits, the dead, and transferred dreams are presented as traditional cultural belief, not objective fact. Historical discussions of yin, yang, qi, bodies, and illness are not modern medical explanations, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations.
